I love a great lip balm and anything with peppermint because of it’s that fresh, tingly feeling you get from using true peppermint oil. The cold winter months wreak havoc on our lips. and I use to spend a small fortune on chapsticks and lip balms.

Than I discovered this great DIY recipe and not only do I love it but my friends love it, too! I make a batch every year at the Holiday and give them to my friends and family.

This lip balm is fresh, hydrating, and leaves your lips supple and shining especially with the added shimmer pearl mica powder.

With only a few natural ingredients, such as beeswax and coconut oil, this lip balm comes together in about fifteen minutes. Peppermint essential oils give it that refreshing tingling feel and cooling sensation. Peppermint is also a natural lip plumper and we all like fuller looking lips.

Don’t like peppermint? Simply use a different essential oil. Cinnamon Bark,  Lavender, Spearmint, Tangerine and orange oils are some of my favorites. You can even get fancy and add a little bit of color for a tint by substituting the Pearl Shimmer Mica powder with one that has a color base. Make it custom to you. The possibilities are vast.

Instructions

  1. Fill a medium pot halfway up with water, place measuring cup into water, make sure it is not too deep because you don’t want the water to get into the measuring cup.
  2. Add the beeswax, coconut oil, cocoa butter and shea butter to the measuring cup. Use a metal or wooden utensil to stir the content in the measuring cup once it has melted remove the cup from the water.
  3. Stir in the Vitamin E, peppermint essential oil and mica powder.
  4. If using lip balm containers than open them up, set the lids aside and lay them right side up on some paper towels. If using chapstick tubes make sure the tubes are screwed completely down and set aside the caps. Wrap the bundle of chapstick tubes together with a rubber band and place on paper towels.
  5. Carefully pour the liquid evenly into the containers.
  6. When it has cooled it will become solid. At this point, it’s ready for use, and you can place the lids and caps back on.
  7. Label the containers and share with family and friends.
